![]() Jonah: You mean, like holding it all in? (thinks about this) I’d like to say no. I have to remind myself all the time that it’s okay to let it out sometimes.ĭo you ever find yourself falling back into old habits? How do you cope when that happens? ![]() When you grow up with a certain set of expectations, it’s hard to shake them even when you know they’re not the right course of action. (chuckles ruefully) Yeah, I wasn’t always the best with dealing with my own emotions, which is sort of horribly ironic for an Emotional, right? It’s a process, though. How do you think you’ve grown over the last several years? ![]() You didn’t always speak your mind, you were quick to get upset. Jonah, let’s move on to you for a minute. space is needed, you know? It helps to bring what’s important back in focus. Except, if I could do it all over again, I’d have talked it over with Jonah, so that it wasn’t like I just disappeared. (looks over at Jonah) as wrong as running away was, I think it was probably the best thing I could have done at the time. Sometimes I’ll just will the paper away afterward, but it’s the thought that I got them out there in the first place, and it helps relieve some of the pressures, especially in work-related matters.Īnd you have no desire to run away again, right? Ĭhloe: (sighs) Running away solves nothing. That helps, even if it’s just to get the words out. you finished yoga a year or so back?Ĭhloe: (laughs) Okay, okay. And running-I guess somebody over here was right all those years about how running helps him clear his mind. I’ve found a lot of things over the years that helps me reduce stress.Ĭan you share some of those things with us?Ĭhloe: Breathing, for one. Though what you went through with the Elders must have taken its toll, too!Ĭhloe: Oh! Well, those are gone, too. Jonah: She could have been talking about the ulcers, you know. Annar’s Shamans are really excellent at what they do. Wait-are you talking about all the stuff I went through with the Elders? Because I’m right as rain now. How are you feeling now?Ĭhloe: (laughs, embarrassed) I like how you phrased that-health problems. Thank you so much for joining us today! We’re very excited to have you here.Ĭhloe: Hi Meredith! For those who don’t know, I’m doing a joint Blogoversary celebration with Kayla and Stacie from A Wonderland of Reading. Hey everyone! Meredith from Pandora’s Books here. JMeredith Blogoversary, Giveaway, Pandora's Wonderland 6 The Lighthouse Famil y series and the Catwings Quartet by Ursula le Guin make up two of the most imaginative, well written, beautifully illustrated sets of books written at this reading level (which is high first grade) that I have encountered.Pandora’s Wonderland: A Fateful Interview (Character Interview + Giveaway) Preston McDaniels' warm, cloud-like illustrations enrich the writing wonderfully. While these books all have exciting events in them, the suspense level is low and the quiet care and concern that the parental figures in the story provide is cozy and complete. Despite being only 57 pages, a good number of which have illustrations, often full page, Rylant creates a detailed world, rich with images and vocabulary that is also gentle and slow paced. However, I was THRILLED to see a copy of The Eagle show up on my cart of books to be shelved the other day and, after a quick check to make sure the series is still all in print and in paperback, I decided to re-post the review.Ĭynthia Rylant's experience and skill show in her series The Lighthouse Family Series. As much as I loved the books, I reviewed them a bit reluctantly because they weren't all in paperback at the time and it seemed as though they might go out of print, even though Cynthia Rylant ( Henry and Mudge, Mr Putter and Tabby, Missing May)is the winner of multiple Newbery and Caldecott awards and honors. The Lighthouse Family series of books was among the first that I reviewed when I started my blog in August of 2008.
